Live exhibition
June 7 and 8, 2025
Parc Calouste Gulbenkian

The Gardens of the Future invites visitors to explore the utopian potential of Calouste Gulbenkian Park—a 33-hectare landscape designed in the late 1930s by renowned modernist landscape architect Achille Duchêne. Conceived as a social and reflective space, the park resonates today with renewed urgency in the face of environmental concerns.

This weekend-long program brings together performance, film, sculpture, and public workshops to reimagine our relationship with nature. Highlights include works by choreographers Ola Maciejewska and Vera Mantero, the participatory performance The Plant Oracle by Ana Rita Teodoro and Amador Alina Folini, sculptures by Christodoulos Panayotou and Elsa Sahal, and open-air screenings of films by Jorge Jácome and Ana Vaz. The event also features gardening and dance workshops, guided tours, and youth-friendly activities.

Curated by Lou Forster, with contributions from Teresa Castro (film program) and Sylvain Martinel (gardening workshops).

Commissioned by the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation – French Delegation for its 60th anniversary. Produced by abd with support from DRAC Île-de-France. In partnership with the National Choreographic Center of Caen in Normandy, the City of Deauville, and Les Franciscaines, as part of Rendez-vous au jardin (Ministry of Culture).
